Terms of use
Last updated October 27, 2026
These terms apply to every dealership that uses Pit Lane and to everyone who signs in to it. In them, “we” means Out The Lot, “the dealership” means the dealership whose staff use this copy of Pit Lane, and “you” means the dealership and each person using it. By using Pit Lane, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use it.
1. What Pit Lane is
Pit Lane is a workspace that helps dealership service departments organize their work. It is a helper, not a system of record: the dealership’s dealer management system (DMS) and its manufacturer’s systems remain the official record for repair orders, warranty submissions, claims and cases. You are responsible for checking deadlines, amounts and decisions in those systems.
2. Accounts
- Accounts are by invitation from the dealership’s Pit Lane admin. Use only your own, and never share your password.
- Sign out of shared computers when you are done.
- The dealership is responsible for everything done under its accounts, for keeping access up to date, and for switching off people who leave.
- Tell your admin or support@outthelot.com straight away if you think an account has been misused.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use Pit Lane only for the dealership’s legitimate business, to enter only what the work needs, and to follow the privacy laws and policies that apply to you. You agree not to:
- enter health details, Social Insurance Numbers, payment card or banking information
- try to reach information you haven’t been given access to
- test, probe, overload, copy or work around Pit Lane’s software or security (report a weakness instead, see Security)
- use Pit Lane for anything unlawful, harmful or abusive
4. Your data
Data entered in Pit Lane belongs to the dealership. We use it only to provide Pit Lane, and we don’t sell or share it with third parties, as described in the Privacy policy. The dealership is responsible for its data: its accuracy, having the right and any consent needed to enter it, and keeping its own copies. It can export everything at any time from Reports › Export & backup.
5. AI suggestions
If the dealership switches on AI help, Pit Lane can suggest how to read an email or word a summary. Suggestions can be wrong or incomplete. You decide whether to use them, and Pit Lane never acts on one by itself.
6. No warranty: use at your own risk
Pit Lane is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty or condition of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties and conditions, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t promise that Pit Lane will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that data will never be lost or corrupted, or that it will meet your needs. You use Pit Lane at your own risk.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Out The Lot and its owners, employees and suppliers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill or business. That includes missed warranty or claim deadlines, chargebacks, rejected claims, customer complaints or lost customers, arising from or related to Pit Lane, even if we were told such losses were possible.
Our total liability for all claims relating to Pit Lane is limited to the greater of the fees the dealership paid us for Pit Lane in the 12 months before the claim and one hundred Canadian dollars (CA$100).
8. Indemnity
The dealership agrees to defend and indemnify Out The Lot against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from the data its staff enter, from its or its staff’s use of Pit Lane, or from a breach of these terms or of applicable law.
9. Changes, suspension and ending
We improve Pit Lane often and may change or remove features. We may suspend access to protect Pit Lane or its users, or if these terms are broken. A dealership may stop using Pit Lane at any time. When it does, it has [30] days to export its data, after which we delete it.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use Pit Lane after a change means you accept the new terms.
11. General
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction. If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If a dealership has a signed agreement with Out The Lot for Pit Lane, that agreement takes priority where the two differ.
