How to get help with Pit Lane
Start with your Pit Lane admin
Each dealership has a Pit Lane admin, usually the service manager. Ask them for:
- a new account, or a new invitation link
- a password reset (they can do it in a minute)
- access to a list you can’t see, or edit rights on one you can only view
- switching off the account of someone who has left
Quick answers
- “Too many wrong attempts”
- Wait 15 minutes, then sign in again. Staff at a dealership often share one internet address, so one person’s mistakes can lock a shared PC.
- I forgot my password
- There is no self-service reset. Your admin gives you a temporary one, and you choose your own when you sign in.
- My invitation link doesn’t work
- Links work once and expire. Ask your admin for a new one.
- I can’t see a list a colleague can
- Access is set per person. Your admin can change it under People and access.
- Is my work saved?
- The bottom of the menu says Saved to your server when it is. If you were offline, Pit Lane saves as soon as you’re back.
- How do I get someone’s attention on a record?
- Type @ and the start of their name in any comment, note or text box, then pick them from the list. When you save, they get a notification in their bell with your sentence and a link straight to the record. Each person is notified once per record, not every time it’s saved.
- I was signed out
- Pit Lane signs you out after 4 hours without activity, with a 3-minute warning first. Anything you had entered was saved. Sign in again to carry on.
- I’m on a shared PC
- Sign out when you’re done (your initials, top right). That also clears your copy from that browser.
Report a problem or ask a question
Email support@outthelot.com with:
- what you were trying to do, and on which page
- what happened instead, and roughly when
- a screenshot, if you can
Please don’t email customer details, VINs or claim amounts. Describe the record (for example “the Corolla case from Tuesday”) and we’ll find it.
We answer within [one business day], [Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm Eastern]. If Pit Lane is down, check System status first.
